A. "Dick" Vance
Dick retired from the Charleston (SC) Police
Department with 25 years of service. As a lieutenant in charge
of the Narcotics Division, he worked closely with federal,
state, local law enforcement agencies, and community leaders.
As commander of the Narcotics Division, Dick supervised and
participated in over 1000 investigations and raids.
Prior to his assignment to the Narcotics Division,
he was the supervisor of the Charleston Police Department’s
stakeout and surveillance team. During this time, Dick worked
on cases ranging from internal theft to the apprehension of
violent criminals.
In addition to attending numerous schools on physical and
electronic surveillance, interviewing techniques, courtroom
testimony and trial preparation, Dick holds a master’s
degree in criminal justice from the University of South Carolina.
